Merchants of The Golden Tether
Posted: Wed Jul 25, 2012 2:18 pm
The Golden Tether is home to a variety of tradesmen, merchants, and skilled workers. If you're looking for something outside of flesh, you're sure to find it here. This list is a compilation of both TGT Staff merchants, as well as those merchants and craftsmen who are not exclusively on staff.
This list is made available to all patrons attempting to find a specific merchant, tradesmen or craftsmen. Due to the nature of the establishment, products or items that might be deemed dangerous or illegal are traded openly. Within TGT's time frame and continuity, merchants and tradesmen are likely to be 'masters' or experts in a specific area, they specialize in one set of goods, or related fields, as being a 'jack of all trades' is difficult and improbable.
Merchants are taxed and there are shipping, transportation fees and as well as docking fees. Merchants may use TGT cargo ships, but this is rather unrealistic due to high costs in renting out a complete cargo ship. Some merchants, be they wealthy enough, own their own ships and crew. More often than not, Merchants may find their own crew and rent a boat, or outsource to shipping companies making this the most cost effective way for a merchant to have their goods shipped. Any ship that docks at the Tether will be charged a shipping and cargo fee; the fee itself is reasonable as most Tether Merchants are well off (though a merchant just starting out may find the fees and taxes to be somewhat high.)
The Golden Tether has standing contracts with a variety of merchants, these standing contracts give the merchant exclusive rights with advertising their goods and services, as well as have any taxes or fees waved. In turn the Tether receives a cut of the Merchant's sales. These merchants are staff members, for more information on IC Staff go here. There are many ways for patron merchants to advertise, they can post on the forum Corkboard or a similar forum within the Tether's RPR Group. Characters are free to advertise their wares via In Character posts (such as walking around the main hall offering their services, handing out samples or coupons.)
We would also like to encourage the use of TGT's Money Purse when selling or buying goods. It is not required but it adds a little bit of realism to such interactions.
FORM
To be eligible to appear on this list you must have the form completed. If anything is omitted (outside of secondary goods sold) the form will not be posted. Merchants and tradesmen will be categorized by the primary goods they sell and listed alphabetically via their Furcadia login name under the appropriate categories. Please note, this list is for those that provide actual goods and product (like a seamstress or baker) not for those that provide a service (such as a slaver or mercenary.)
Feel free to fill out the following form and private message it to Monstrum on RPR or on the forums here with the subject title 'MERCHANT FORM'.
Please allow one week for the list to be updated. If you wish to have your character removed at any time, please feel free to send a private message.
Please keep your answers short and compact. Long winded forms will be either slimmed down or they will need to be filled out again.

- Illicit and Themed Wares - This is for the more illicit items that may be found around the Tether, this can include exotic or dangerous goods. This includes drug dealers, smugglers, BDSM merchants/specialists, exotic species salesmen. These have to be materials produced or acquired by the seller.
